China's energy-saving lamps quality steadily improve energy saving and save money

According to the National Electric Light Source Quality Supervision and Inspection Center, China has become the world's largest producer and exporter of energy-saving lamps, and the quality of energy-saving lamps produced has been steadily increasing year by year. Since 2005, the quality inspection rate of energy-saving lamps has reached more than 80%. Consumers use energy-saving lamps to save electricity and money.

Hua Shuming, director of the National Electric Light Source Quality Supervision and Inspection Center (Beijing), said in an exclusive interview with Xinhua News Agency that the output of energy-saving lamps in China has soared from 200 million in 1997 to nearly 2.4 billion last year. Both production and export volume have been Ranked first in the world, more than 85% of the world's energy-saving lamps come from China. Since the supervision and spot check of energy-saving lamps in China in 1998, due to the increased supervision of product production, the promotion of national standards and requirements in enterprises, the qualified rate of energy-saving lamp products has been continuously improved.

Hua Shuming said that due to the dominant position of large and medium-sized enterprises, although the qualification rate of enterprises has not increased much over the years, the pass rate of China's output calculation has been steadily increasing year by year. Large and medium-sized enterprises have large production scale, high degree of automation, good quality control, and many investment in technology development, but the number of enterprises is small. “10% of enterprises produce 90% of products”.

He said that Zhejiang Sunshine Group's annual output of energy-saving lamps in 2006 has reached 250 million, and has been qualified for sampling for many years; Xiamen Tongshida Lighting Co., Ltd. has nearly 100 million annual output, and its products are mainly sold to the United States. The United States General Electric (GE) fixed-point production unit, product quality is maintained at an international level.

As for some media reports that some energy-saving lamps do not save money, Hua Shuming said that it is difficult to agree. He said that the national standard for energy-saving lamps requires a minimum life of 6,000 hours and incandescent lamps for 1,000 hours. A 13-watt energy-saving lighting effect is equivalent to a 60-watt incandescent lamp. After 610 hours of use, the energy-saving lamp saves electricity costs equivalent to the cost of purchase, and has been in a state of saving money more than incandescent lamps. If the energy-saving lamp is used up to 6000 hours, it can save 128.7 yuan compared with incandescent lamps. The use of energy-saving lamps with guaranteed quality is both energy efficient and economical than traditional incandescent lamps.

According to Hua Shuming, the high production cost of energy-saving lamps, high purchase prices and lack of understanding of energy-saving lamps by consumers are the main reasons for the low penetration rate of energy-saving lamps in China.
