Qualcomm Purchases British Chip Manufacturer CSR for US$2.5 Billion

October 15 news, according to Reuters, the United States Qualcomm to buy the British chip maker CSR Corporation for 2.5 billion US dollars, successfully squeezed out rival Microcore Technology out.

CSR Company said on Wednesday local time that after trading with Qualcomm, shareholders will receive cash of 900 pence per share.

It is reported that CSR refused the microchip acquisition request in August on the ground that the latter’s bid was not high enough. Prior to this, the two parties had been discussing the acquisition agreement, but Wednesday was the deadline set by the British regulatory authorities.
