Cree high voltage LED again reduces application cost

Small package lighting applications, such as candle lamps, have been a challenge for LED technology. Past LEDs were unable to provide the required system level performance within the package size required by the customer.

Peter Vaughan, Director of Applications Engineering at Power Integrations, points out: "Crui's new high-voltage XM-L HVW and XT-E HVW LEDs maximize the voltage of the LEDs, minimizing the current through the LED drive output rectifiers, thus effectively reducing Drive losses and heat dissipation, and increase overall system luminous efficiency by a few percentage points."

Paul Thieken, Director of LED Components Marketing, said: "Lighting OEMs can now take advantage of the high-performance LEDs with such high performance, which was previously impossible. We will continue to develop LEDs for different applications. Products to accelerate the adoption of energy-efficient LED lighting products."

Cool white (6000K) and warm white (3000K) XLamp XM-L HVW LED luminous flux up to 600 lm and 462 lm at 6W and 85°C; cool white (6000K) and warm white (3000K) XLamp XT-E HVW LED luminous flux is up to 300 lm and 228 lm. Under the binning conditions, the typical voltage values of the two LEDs are 46V.

The XLamp XT-E HVW and XM-L HVW LEDs are now ready for mass production according to standard delivery times.
