Design of full color LED display system based on STM32

As a new display device, LED display has been widely used in recent years. With the continuous updating of technology, LED displays are moving in the direction of full color. An LED display control system is designed. The system uses the ARMCortex-M3 core chip STM32F103ZET6 as the control center, and the programmable logic device EP1C6 completes the data refresh and communicates via Ethernet. The system can support the image and animation display of 256-level grayscale full-color LED display, and it can be easily controlled remotely.

LED display screen is a modern flat display screen composed of LED dot matrix module or pixel unit. It has the advantages of high luminous efficiency, long service life, large viewing angle range, rich color and strong adaptability to indoor and outdoor environments. In the late 1980s, it developed rapidly around the world and quickly became a representative mainstream product for large-screen flat panel displays. In recent years, with the rapid decline in the price of blue LED products, the price of full-color LED displays has gradually increased. Lower, market demand has increased dramatically, and applications are becoming more common. The current LED display control system mostly uses ARM processor to complete the function of the whole system. This control system has great limitations in data processing speed and affects the continuity of display effect. Based on the analysis of the structure characteristics of STM32 microprocessor bus, the control system scheme of STM32+FPGA is proposed. This scheme fully utilizes the flexible memory control technology of STM32 microprocessor and the flexibility of programmable logic device. Sex, which improves the speed of system data processing, and simplifies the circuit structure and facilitates debugging.

1, the overall system design

The system structure block diagram is shown in Figure 1.

The system adopts the new generation 32bit RISC processor STM32 as the main control chip, transmits data through Ethernet, uses FLASH as the storage module, and completes the high-speed scanning and refreshing of the LED display by the FPGA. When the system works, the upper computer is used to edit the display information, and the display information is transmitted to the microprocessor through the Ethernet interface. The microprocessor receives the data information and writes it to the FLASH memory. During display, the microprocessor reads the data in the FLASH, and sends the data to the FPGA in parallel through the bus. After the FPGA processes the data, it transmits the data to the LED display.

2, system hardware design

This system selects ST's new 32-bit microprocessor STM32F103ZET6 as the main control chip. STM32F103ZET6 uses the ARMCORtex-M3 core with advanced architecture. Its flexible static memory controller makes it easy to connect with many memories and peripherals. At the same time, the STM32 has a large number of on-chip peripherals, which simplifies the design of the peripheral circuits of the system.

T8 LED Tube Light is available in 13W 18W 24 W 30W 36W, used 2835 SMD, in 600mm 900mm 1200 mm 1500mm 1800mm 2400mm length available.The tube is CE, RoHS certified. T8 uses G13 end caps. The voltage range is from 85 to 277 VAC. T8 Tube has around 90-150lm/w lumen output. The power factor is greater than 95%. The CRI is great than 70. The tube lens including clear cover and frosted cover . Color Temparature is 2700-6500K . Life up to 30,000 hours. Types are divide to high efficiency Tube, Radar Sensor Tube,Motion Sensor , PIR Sensor and TRIAC Dimmable Tube.
