Application of Turck AIDA Block I/O Modules in the Automotive Industry
Turck demonstrated Block IO modules with AIDA connectivity at SPS IPC Drives. Turck has been dedicated to providing robust IO module applications for the German automotive industry. The plug-in AIDA connection technology ensures Ethernet and power connections without the need for threaded connections. The metal AIDA flange interface guarantees the IP67/IP67K protection rating of the TBEN module and the operating temperature of -40 to +70°C.
Turck currently offers three AIDA connection module models, the TBEN-A1-16DXP has 16 digital channels that can be set as input or output; the TBEN-A1-16DXP provides 16 digital input channels; TBEN-A1--8DIP The -8DOP provides 8 digital input channels and 8 digital output channels. All TBEN series, including 16DXP models, classify I/O channels as “shutdown IO†and “non-shutdown IO†to ensure that this type of module can be used for fail-safe shutdown of emergency stop switches. This type of module also inherits the media redundancy (MRP) and fast start (FSU) functions of PROFINET required by AIDA. With the exception of the PROFINET protocol, all AIDA modules support both the Ethernet/IP and Modbus TCP Ethernet protocols.
