On November 16, Skyworth Group and BOE, together with Huawei's Hisilicon, released the first China-developed OLED TV in Shenzhen.

It is reported that the China-developed OLED TV released by Skyworth is based on the OLED screen from BOE. BOE is a leading company in the domestic display field and is now the second largest panel manufacturer in the world. In the first half of this year, BOE announced that it will invest 46.5 billion yuan in Mianyang, Sichuan to establish the 6th generation AMOLED production line, plus the 5.5-generation production line of Erdos and the two 6-generation lines of Chengdu. Soon, BOE's OLED production line will reach four.

Looking back at the development of the liquid crystal display industry, the core technology has always been mastered by Japanese and Korean companies, and the research and development of Chinese companies has lagged behind and missed the opportunity to achieve high-end brands. Looking at the new generation of OLED display technology, although Chinese companies' OLED products are facing the market later, there are already a lot of deep technical reserves in research and development; and foreign mature screen manufacturers are still waiting to see or wait for LGD. In the initial state, there is no particularly obvious advantage in the field of OLED. Therefore, China's OLED industry still has the opportunity to rank among the world's first echelons through strong alliances and rapid actions by upstream and downstream enterprises.

Although OLED panels have been the focus of debate in the industry on the issue of yield and lifetime, with the development of display technology, OLED has been undisputedly called the development trend of future display technologies. According to incomplete statistics, there are currently more than ten OLED TV brands in the world. South Korea's OLED panel maker LGD has previously said that OLED TVs will account for 50% of the global high-end TV market in three years.

According to data from Aowei.com, OLED TV sales in China will continue to grow by 400% in 2016 and 2017. The research organization IHS also said that by 2018, China's OLED TV market share in the world will be stable at around 20%.

The Skyworth and BOE released China's independent research and development of OLED TV, which indicates that China's OLED technology and market are mature, helping China's OLED industry to enter the fast lane, promoting the full-scale OLED industry outbreak, and making China more and more occupied in the global display market.
