Dongguan City will renovate 150,000 LED street lights in 2013
By the end of 2013, Dongguan has to complete the task of transforming 200,000 LED street lights. As of December 2012, the city has installed 52,072 LED street lights. Dongguan City is accelerating the progress of the promotion and application of LED lighting products. At present, the transformation task of 200,000 LED street lights has been assigned to various towns and streets and related transformation units.
Yuan Baocheng, deputy secretary of the Dongguan Municipal Party Committee and mayor, attended the meeting and pointed out that it is necessary to promote the application of LED lighting products as an important starting point for energy saving and emission reduction work, and actively complete the provincial tasks.
According to preliminary estimates, the total investment of 200,000 LED street lamp renovation projects in Dongguan City is about 489 million yuan. If the total life of LED street lamps is 9 years (35,000 hours), the financial revenue will be 740 million yuan, saving 10.8 yuan. One hundred kilowatt hours is equivalent to saving 379,000 tons of standard coal, reducing sulphur dioxide emissions by 7,000 tons, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 268,000 tons, and reducing smoke and dust emissions by 7,000 tons.
As of December 2012, the city has installed a total of 52,072 LED street lights. The three towns of Shipai, Wanjiang and Dalang have basically completed the task of streetlight renovation in the jurisdiction. Guancheng has completed the open tendering procedure for the streetlight renovation project.
Yuan Baocheng said that the indicator of 200,000 yuan from the province is still about 150,000 baht, and the overall situation is not ideal. Due to high procurement costs and other reasons, many units are not very motivated. The province has been tasked for more than half a year, and the time has passed by one-third. The LED streetlight reconstruction task in Dongguan has only completed 26%, and 21 of the 39 units involved have progress less than 15%.
