Interestingly, Lenovo’s Chairman and CEO, Yang Yuanqing, even became the 100th owner of Weilai Auto’s first mass-produced SUV, the ES8, highlighting his personal commitment to this innovative project.

According to Li Bin, founder and chairman of Weilai Auto, AI will not only enhance the user experience of electric vehicles but also transform them into mobile living spaces. These smart cars could help improve urban efficiency and reduce carbon emissions by up to 16 million tons daily. By 2025, fully autonomous driving is expected to free up 100% of the time inside the vehicle, and the next model from Weilai Auto is already designed to save 50% of driver time under Chinese road conditions.

At the same conference, Lenovo also announced the establishment of a new AI Innovation Center in Beijing, Morrisville, and Stuttgart. This move underscores Lenovo’s growing interest in the future of smart mobility and AI-driven solutions. Yang Yuanqing emphasized that while Lenovo is well-known for its PCs, the company is now aiming to be a leader in AI transformation—not just for itself, but for consumers and industries alike.
