Intel approves chip cache vulnerability after Intel and Android iOS are affected

(Original headline: ARM confirms processor flaw impacts some Android, iOS, Nvidia, and Sony devices)

Netease Technology News, January 5 – According to a report from VentureBeat, following the recent discovery of insecure memory leaks affecting millions of Intel processors, ARM has now confirmed that several of its Cortex series processors also contain vulnerabilities. These chips are widely used in various devices, including Android and iOS smartphones, Nvidia Tegra products, Qualcomm Snapdragon chips, and even Sony’s PlayStation Vita.

ARM has identified four different exploitable processor vulnerabilities and released a detailed chart showing that multiple Cortex-A series chips—including the A8, A9, A15, A17, A57, A72, A73, and A75—are affected by more than two security flaws. The older Cortex-A8, A9, and A15 processors were found in early Apple devices like the first three iPads, iPad mini, iPhone 4/4s/5/5c, iPod Touch 4G/5G, and Apple TV 2G/3G. They were also used in some Google-branded phones and earlier Qualcomm Snapdragon-powered devices.

Given the widespread licensing of ARM Cortex technology across numerous chip manufacturers, the impact on customized chips varies significantly. As a result, compiling an exact list of all affected devices is nearly impossible. However, it's known that the Tegra 2, 3, 4, and K1 from Nvidia, as well as Samsung’s Exynos 3110, 4, and 5 chips, are based on ARM architecture. It remains unclear whether Apple’s A-series chips, which include custom-designed and internally developed processors, are affected.

Protecting ARM-based devices requires different approaches depending on the specific chip and operating system. ARM is advising Android users and "other operating systems" to seek patches from their device providers, while offering software mitigations for Linux. Google has already issued patches for Android, but other Android devices are still waiting for vendor updates. Apple has not yet publicly disclosed which devices are impacted or provided a solution. If iOS devices are affected, Apple may release patches through software updates, though the performance impact is still unknown.

Intel CEO Brian Krzanich stated that many products could be affected, though the extent of the impact will vary by product. ARM claims the risk of exploitation is low, noting that these attacks require locally running malware. Users are advised to keep their software updated and avoid suspicious links or downloads to stay secure.

7 M Light Tower

7 M light tower

A 7 M light tower refers to a light tower that has a height of 7 meters. Light towers are tall structures equipped with lights that are used to provide illumination in various settings, such as construction sites, outdoor events, sports fields, and emergency situations.

A 7 M light tower is typically portable and can be easily transported and set up in different locations. It is designed to provide a wide coverage of light, ensuring visibility in dark or low-light conditions. The lights on the tower can be adjusted to different angles and heights, allowing for flexibility in directing the light where it is needed the most.

These light towers are often powered by generators or can be connected to an external power source. They may also have additional features such as adjustable height, telescopic masts, and remote control operation for convenience and ease of use.

Overall, a 7 M light tower is a versatile lighting solution that can be used in a wide range of applications to ensure safety and visibility in various environments.
