U.S. Urgently Recalls Chinese-Made LED Bulbs

According to Xiamen Haicang Customs Inspection Bureau, Chinese-made LED light bulbs have been voluntarily recalled by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and R&D Products LLC. These products, marketed as mosquito-killing lamps under the brand name "Outxpro," were sold online through Amazon between July 2016 and August 2016.

The recalled models include the Outxpro II and Outxpro I, which are 10-watt LED bulbs with a white grid housing. Measuring approximately 3.1 inches in height, 3.1 inches in width, and 6.1 inches in depth, these lamps feature a blue light to attract insects. The product number DYT-80 and the brand name "Kinven" are clearly marked on the packaging. A total of around 3,700 units were sold during this period, each priced at roughly $20.

The primary concern lies in the potential detachment of the bulb's base from its connector, creating a risk of electric shock. As of now, the company has recorded 18 incidents of such detachment, but no injuries or property damage have been reported.

The CPSC advises consumers to cease using the recalled products immediately, turn off the power supply, and contact R&D Products for a free repair, including shipping and guidance on removing and replacing the bulbs. In cases where professional assistance is needed to dismantle the lamp, R&D Products will cover the associated costs.

The Xiamen Haicang Customs Inspection Bureau urges related enterprises to stay informed about foreign laws, regulations, and standards while maintaining strict quality control throughout the manufacturing and testing processes to prevent avoidable financial losses.
