Dispute between D-band and F-band

As far as TD-LTE base station construction is concerned, there are two main ways: one is to upgrade from 3G TD-SCDMA to TD-LTE; the other is to directly build TD-LTE base stations. According to the previous construction of China Mobile's TD-LTE test network, 1900MHz (F-band), 2600MHz (D-band), and 2300MHz (E-band) are mainly used in the band. Among them, the F-band is mainly upgraded and the D-band is mainly newly built. In the expansion of the pilot network construction, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Hangzhou mainly used the F-band network.
At present, the attitudes of various manufacturers are actually clear. If the F-band is preferred, it will benefit domestic manufacturers that occupy a relatively large portion of the TD-SCDMA market. It is reported that since the fourth phase of TD-SCDMA, the newly built TD-SCDMA base station has been compatible with TD-LTE, and can be upgraded to TD-LTE by adding baseband boards, software upgrades, or adding RRU and antenna. Therefore, several manufacturers with an advantage in TD-SCDMA hope to mainly use F-band, mainly domestic manufacturers.
However, several foreign equipment giants with a negligible share in the TD-SCDMA era are not reconciled, and neither Ericsson nor Alcatraz are optimistic about F-band upgrades. Alcatel-Lucent also supports new construction in the D-band and the F-band is reserved for 3G networks.
All equipment manufacturers hope to influence China Mobile's choice
