If you want to go to this year's Amsterdam Light Arts Festival, you will be able to find the ticket booth very quickly at the venue - because it is a bionics building made up of LED panels, which is quite eye-catching at night.
The LED ticket booth, called Eye_Beacon, was designed and built by the Dutch company UNStudio and the textile company MDT-tex. It was inspired by the bio-luminescent marine life. For fans of the Amsterdam Light Arts Festival, this is a truly amazing building.
“Deep sea creatures use bioluminescence to signal and warn while attracting the opposite sex. Eye_Beacon uses a sequence of light sequences to remind visitors. It is both a light sculpture and a functional building of the festival itself,†UNStudio Ben van Berkel said, “The central turning point of this building is suspended over the Amstel River and represents the blend between land and water.â€
The main structure of the building is a cube, which is connected by curved surfaces and the entire building uses 250 panels. These panels are supplied by MDT-tex, and each panel perfectly displays the light projected from the internal LEDs. When the color of the LED changes, the whole building will also undergo a wonderful change in vision. Perhaps it is one of the biggest highlights of this lighting festival.
Eye_Beacon is located in the vicinity of the Blue Bridge in Amsterdam, on the west bank of the Amstel River. It is not only a ticket booth, but also the task of the festival information center. This year's Light Arts Festival will last from December 1st to January 22nd next year.
