Semiconductor industry orders are growing
The demand for benefit-free mobile devices continued to increase, driving orders for electronic products and information and communication products. The export orders for March were US$37.94 billion, up 5.9% from the same month of last year. The annual growth rate was even growing in February and the margin was slightly better than the market. It is expected that in March, the annual growth rate of electronic product orders will reach 10.1%, which is the highest among all major goods. Taiwan's relevant departments indicated that export orders are showing a slow upward trend, and it is expected that orders will also grow positively in April.
Taiwan’s relevant departments stated that foreign orders for exports were US$37.94 billion in March, an increase of US$7.23 billion or 23.6% from the previous month, and an increase of US$2.1 billion or 5.9% over the same month of the previous year. The annual growth rate was growing in February; Export orders for the quarter were US$104.76 billion, a decrease of US$18.19 billion or 14.8% from the previous quarter and an increase of US$2.74 billion or 2.7% from the same quarter of the previous year.
Judging from the main orders, Taiwan’s relevant departments stated that the increasing demand for handheld mobile devices and the increase in specifications have led to a strong increase in orders for semiconductors such as high-level wafer processes, wafers, and DRAMs, and electronic product orders in March. The annual growth rate reached 10.1%, which was the highest among all major goods. In addition, the information and communications products are also stable due to handheld mobile device assembly foundry, computer foundries to adjust product structure and computer demand, March orders rose 8.6% in order to support the growth of orders before the two major products.
In addition, orders for precision instruments in March decreased 3.6% year-on-year, representing a negative growth for 11 consecutive months; however, Taiwan’s relevant departments also pointed out that the decrease in precision instruments due to the increasing demand for television and computer panels has been reduced. However, due to the gradual recovery of the global economy and the active expansion of the industry, the traditional orders received positive growth in March.
Lin Lizheng, Director of the Statistics Department of Taiwan’s relevant departments, said that the increasing demand for mobile devices led to orders for electronic products and communications products in March, while computers and NB’s parts also saw the foundry’s orders getting better and slowly emerged from the past two years. Weakness, and the rise of panel orders in March also reflected the need for stock preparations for the May Day holiday. However, the low market price of Korea and the mainland panel is still a worrying factor in panel export.
From the perspective of the order area, Taiwan’s relevant departments stated that in March, orders from the six countries of the Chinese mainland, the United States, Europe, Japan, and ASEAN were all increased compared to the same month of last year, indicating an upward trend in export orders. However, observing the proportion of overseas production of overseas orders in March, the overseas production ratio of information and communications has reached as high as 89.8%, setting a record high, and representing mobile phones and other products are mostly produced overseas, and it is difficult to increase Taiwan’s employment opportunities.
Looking to the future, Taiwan’s relevant departments stated that thanks to the continuous increase in the demand for handheld mobile devices and the continuous upgrading of specifications, it is expected that the electronic product orders will continue to grow. Information and communication products have been driven by innovations in handheld mobile devices, which have led to increased demand, and the retreat of Windows XP software has helped trigger a wave of computer replacements. Precise equipment in response to China's stocking demand on May 1st, helping to stabilize orders, but still face fierce competition in China and South Korea. The receipt of orders from traditional industries has benefited from the gradual recovery of economic conditions in Europe and the United States, and the arrival of the traditional peak season of the plastics industry. It is expected that orders will gradually turn stronger.
Lin Lizhen said that the trend of export orders is up, showing a slow rise, can enjoy watching the performance of export orders in the coming months, and there is a great opportunity for export orders to grow in April.
According to Taiwan’s relevant departments, according to the opinion of the manufacturers of export orders on the orders received in April, it is expected that orders will increase 23.8% from the number of manufacturers in March, 58.9% of those who hold the flats, and 17.4% of the households will be reduced. The movement index for the number calculation is 53.2; for the movement index calculated based on the amount of orders received, it is 50.8. It is expected that the overall export order amount in April will increase slightly from March. In addition, the company's outlook for the second quarter of orders, the number of firms and the number of orders to calculate the momentum of the index were 58.6 and 58.4, indicating that the second quarter of this year, the export orders will increase compared to the first quarter.
