LIFX White 800: Cheap entry-level smart light bulb
The battlefield of the emerging smart bulb market is becoming increasingly fierce, and new products from a large number of manufacturers are pouring in. The product, called the LIFX White 800, is priced at $40 (about 245 yuan) and is the cheapest product in the company. The product's support for Wi-Fi means it can work without central control.
Previously, Philips just announced that it lowered the price of its product Hue Lux to 20 US dollars (about RMB 123). Lux can only emit white light and support ZigBee connection, but it must be controlled by Hue Bridge. Currently, the price of two light bulbs plus a central control kit is $80 (about RMB 490).
Hue Lux is obviously cheaper, and a lot of purchases save more. But is Hue Lux the best choice? Not necessarily!
In terms of specifications, the White 800 has a slight advantage: 890 lumens (equivalent to a 60W incandescent lamp), which is 140 lumens more than the brightness of the Lux. In addition, the company claims that the White 800 has the ability to “select between warm and cold light sources†and is the first bulb to support this feature in entry-level products. The product specification list indicates that the color temperature of the bulb is between 2700 and 6500K.
For those who want to try home automation, but feel that most home connected devices are particularly expensive, the White 800 is particularly attractive.
