Today, some of the critical infrastructure of the Internet is increasingly being attacked by cyber attacks, and security in system design can no longer be seen as a remedy. A recent survey of 2,200 electronic engineers by Electronic Design magazine showed that 60% of respondents said that the safety of their products is very important, and 96% of the respondents believe that safety is as important as or even more important to the product itself. (Reference 1). The MAXQ1061 is designed to meet the EAL4+ common standard, enabling engineers to quickly implement product safety designs and effectively protect network terminals.

The MAXQ1061 integrates a rich cryptographic toolbox that fully supports different levels and ranges of security requirements, from key generation to storage to digital signatures, and data encryption at the SSL/TLS/DTLS layer. The device also supports secure import of most host processors. To withstand extreme industrial environments, the MAXQ1061 operates over the -40°C to +109°C temperature range – the widest range of products in the TSSOP-14 package.

The MAXQ1061 embeds a 32KB user-programmable security EEPROM for storing certificates, public keys, private keys and keys, and any user data. EEPROM is managed through a flexible file system that supports the implementation of custom security policies. Encryption algorithms include ECC (up to NIST P-521 standard), ECDSA signature generation and verification, SHA-2 (up to SHA-512 standard) secure hash, AES-128/-256 encryption (ECB, CBC, CCM mode support) , as well as the MAC summary). The MAXQ1061 also provides a separate hardware AES engine via SPI, supporting AES-GCM and AES-ECB modes, reducing host processor load and ensuring fast stream encryption.
