Ericsson: Almost double the forecast for the number of cellular IoT devices

Ericsson said in its semi-annual mobile report: "As China's ongoing large-scale deployment, our forecast for the number of cellular IoT devices has almost doubled."

The Internet of Things will empower billions of devices, such as electricity meters or vending machines, to send and receive data, and is expected to boost telecom operators' revenue growth.

Ericsson said that by 2023, Northeast Asia (mainly China) will account for the vast majority of connected devices, reaching 2.2 billion.

In contrast, Ericsson expects that by 2023, the number of other connected devices such as mobile phones will reach 8.6 billion, compared with 7.5 billion in 2017, and the number of personal computers/notebooks/tablets will increase slightly to 1.7 billion. .
