The nation’s first “no police station” is coming

At a press conference held on November 7 titled "Wuhan Traffic Police Administrative Services Entering the AI Era," Tencent and the Wuhan Public Security Bureau's Traffic Management Bureau announced plans to launch the country's first unmanned police station, which is expected to be operational soon. This innovative initiative marks a significant step forward in integrating artificial intelligence into public services. The unmanned police station will leverage the capabilities of the Wuhan Traffic Police Intelligence Service Platform. In the future, citizens will be able to enter the station by simply scanning their face, and then proceed to handle various traffic-related services through intelligent terminal equipment. From license renewal to permit applications, everything can be done self-service on-site. Additionally, a robot customer service system will be available around the clock, offering assistance at any time. This new system allows users to handle a wide range of tasks, such as applying for a new car registration, reporting a lost license, checking traffic violations, or scheduling a driving test—all through the Wuhan Smart Traffic Police mini-program. With over 130 traffic management services available online, citizens can complete processes like vehicle registration, accident reporting, and insurance claims without visiting a physical office. Thanks to facial recognition technology, users can register on the platform with just a quick scan, eliminating the need for ID cards or photos. Once registered, they can access all services seamlessly. For example, if someone needs to replace a lost license, they can pre-verify their identity via the app, and the system will automatically generate a photo, submit the application, and deliver the new license within 24 hours. The platform also supports paperless transactions, allowing users to access electronic documents such as medical certificates, e-ID cards, e-insurance policies, and digital driver’s licenses. This eliminates the need for multiple physical documents and reduces the hassle of proving one's identity. Available 24/7, the platform ensures that citizens can apply for services anytime and anywhere. After submitting an application, the process is completed and delivered within 24 hours, with options for online payment and doorstep delivery of documents. Tencent has also integrated personalized recommendations based on user behavior, pushing relevant updates about licenses, vehicles, violations, and travel information. The platform also offers smart guidance and real-time traffic updates, along with government services and public opinion monitoring. In the future, at the unmanned police station, users can also interact with officers via video calls, getting real-time assistance from law enforcement professionals at any hour. This blend of technology and human support ensures a more efficient, convenient, and secure experience for citizens.
