Molex demonstrates the first interconnect solution with OIF at ECOC 2012

In the context of the European Conference on Communication (ECOC 2012), Molex, a global leader in interconnect solutions, along with other members of the Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF), successfully demonstrated interoperability of high-speed systems. The event took place at the RAI Convention and Exhibition Centre in Amsterdam from September 17 to 19, 2012, and was one of the most significant fiber optic communication conferences in Europe. During the live demonstration, a groundbreaking data rate of 100 Gb/s was achieved, marking a major milestone in optical connectivity. A key highlight of the conference was the showcase of the world’s first QSFP-based connector — the Molex zQSFP+™ connector. This innovative solution supports data rates of up to 25.78 Gb/s per channel, making it ideal for high-bandwidth applications such as 100Gb/s Ethernet and 100Gb/s InfiniBand Enhanced Data Rate (EDR). The zQSFP+ active fiber optic cable and electrical connector products also support the OIF's CEI-28G-VSR interface, offering excellent signal integrity, superior cooling performance, strong EMI protection, and minimal power consumption. Scott Sommers, Product Manager at Molex Group, emphasized the importance of this achievement: "By demonstrating the interoperability of high-speed multi-channel systems, Molex and our OIF partners are well-prepared for the next generation of high-speed connectivity. This is a crucial step toward meeting the growing demands of bandwidth-intensive communications and high-performance system requirements." The OIF hosted multi-vendor demonstrations during the event, featuring Molex’s zQSFP+ active optical cables and re-timers to achieve the first 28 Gb/s interconnect demonstration in Europe. Additionally, live demonstrations of physical and link layer interoperability using Molex’s zQSFP+ technology and other OIF partner solutions continued throughout the conference, highlighting the collaborative efforts in advancing optical communication standards.

Heat Shrink Tube

Heat-shrinkable tubing is a special heat-shrinkable sleeve made of polyolefin. The outer layer is made of high-quality soft cross-linked polyolefin material and the inner layer of hot melt adhesive composite processing and become, the outer layer of material has the characteristics of insulation, corrosion and abrasion resistance, etc., and the inner layer has the advantages of low melting point, waterproof sealing and high adhesive properties.
