Linear Technology Corporation, based in MILPITAS, has introduced a new and highly accurate one-shot pulse generator called the LTC6993. This device is part of the TimerBloxâ„¢ family of timing solutions, offering an innovative approach to precise timing applications. The one-shot function, also known as a monostable multivibrator, is ideal for tasks like process timing, edge detection, and frequency discrimination.
The LTC6993 stands out due to its ease of configuration. It can be programmed using just a few resistors, making it simple to implement in various circuits. Its wide programmable range allows for pulse widths ranging from 1 microsecond up to 33.6 seconds—covering 25 octaves of operation. This flexibility makes it suitable for both short and long timing applications.
The LTC6993 comes in four variants, each allowing users to choose between rising or falling edge triggering and whether to include a retrigger function. With retrigger capability, the output pulse can be extended by multiple input triggers, while without it, the pulse remains unaffected by repeated triggers until it completes its cycle. Each version can also be set to generate either a high or low logic-level output pulse.
In total, the LTC6993 family supports eight different logic functions, ensuring adaptability and user-friendly design. Additionally, the output pulse width can be dynamically adjusted using a single control voltage, offering real-time flexibility in timing applications.
As part of the broader TimerBlox family, the LTC6993 combines precision oscillators with advanced circuitry and logic, eliminating the need for capacitors, crystals, or microcontrollers.
