Today, I encountered a problem with a Changhong LCD TV model LT42710FHD. The issue was that the left side of the screen showed vertical lines, which made it look like a screen failure. At first glance, I thought it was a display issue, but after opening the TV and checking, I realized the problem might be related to the cable connection.
I removed the outer frame and carefully checked the screen cables. After flipping the LCD panel and powering on the TV, I noticed that when I gently pressed the outermost cable, the vertical line on the screen changed slightly. This indicated that the problem was likely due to a loose or faulty connection on that specific cable.
To fix this, I used a pressure screen head I had purchased online and heated it with a soldering iron. I applied gentle pressure while moving the head back and forth over the suspected area. However, after testing, the vertical line still appeared, so I needed a better solution.
Then I remembered an old trick I had seen before—using a thin, heat-sensitive sheet from a VCD player’s optical cable connector. These sheets are designed to make plugging and unplugging easier by acting as a buffer. I found a small piece of similar material, cut it into a 1cm wide strip, and stuck it onto the faulty area.
Next, I heated the pressure head again and carefully pressed it over the repaired section. After doing this, I turned the TV on again and tested the cable manually. To my surprise, the vertical line was gone! The screen looked normal, and there were no more issues with the display.
This method worked well for me, and I believe it could be useful for others who encounter similar problems with their TVs or other devices where cable connections are involved. It's a simple, low-cost repair that doesn't require any special tools or parts.
