Charging fault, battery decay into a new energy car 3 15 complaints focus

With the continuous advancement of new energy vehicles, more consumers are choosing them as their preferred mode of transportation. However, despite their growing popularity, some quality issues have emerged during daily use, causing frustration among owners. As the 315 Consumer Rights Day approached, a reporter investigated complaints on the "People's Motor Vehicles Quality Complaint Platform" and found that the main concerns regarding new energy vehicles included charging failures, battery degradation, refueling issues, reverse gear malfunctions, and unusual noises. Mr. Wang from Beijing purchased a 2017 Jianghuai IEV4 luxury electric vehicle in June 2017 from Fangshan Baodinglong Jianghuai 4S store. He reported that even before completing the license procedures, the car experienced multiple problems such as charging failure, refueling issues after startup, and unexpected power shutdowns. Within three months of purchase, the vehicle had been repaired over ten times, with some issues not being resolved. The air conditioning was fixed three times, and now the car could no longer be opened. Eventually, the factory agreed to a refund, but the process was slow due to lack of subsidies, leaving Mr. Wang still waiting for the return to be finalized. Another case involved Ms. Zhao from Tongzhou District, who bought a Beiqi EC180 model in July 2017. The manufacturer installed a charging pile, but it failed to charge the vehicle. Even by January 2018, the charging pile was still non-functional. Both the car manufacturer and the charging pile company blamed each other, until the charging company replaced the nozzle and restored normal charging. According to Mr. Li, a technician from a charging pile company, common causes of charging issues include overloaded power supply, incorrect connection settings, faulty devices, or display errors. He also advised users to fully charge the battery every 200 km and avoid long-term storage without proper charge maintenance. In addition to charging problems, sudden power drops have also caused inconvenience. Mr. Hu from Beijing experienced a sharp drop from 40% to 20% while driving, leading to a complete shutdown on the Fourth Ring Road. Similarly, Master Yang faced brake failures, which led to a rear-end collision, leaving him deeply concerned about the safety of his vehicle. The reporter joined an online group called “New Energy Rights Protection,” where over 200 members shared similar issues: sudden power fluctuations, strange noises, poor winter performance, abnormal air conditioning sounds, seat belt malfunctions, and reverse gear problems. An automotive electrical engineer, Mr. Tian, noted that many of these issues stem from the electronic systems of new energy vehicles, where communication errors can lead to failures in charging, refueling, or gear shifting. According to data from CLUCC, new energy vehicle sales reached 29,000 units in February, showing a 76% year-on-year increase. As the market continues to grow, automakers must focus on improving product quality to ensure a better user experience.
